Tweet Trumps is a game, that some of the web 2.0-enthusiasts implicit play for years in the social networks: who got the most followers, the best stats, the most postings etc. Finally Tom Scott and Dom Hodgson came up with a game, where you can play officially with Twitter-stats. Everyone knows trump from the childhood days. You hold your card and have to overbeat your opponent by picking a stat, that is guaranteed better than you opponents one (you surely not know). A little fun game, not too deep, but with millions of variants, by picking special themes for the game, like cars, buildings, tv-series, etc.. Twitter Trump is the most dynamic and interactive version of this game.

Just start entering a nickname of your choice, wait some seconds and try to beat your opponents cards with followers, word-length or tweets-per-day. The cards are generated by friends of the twitter-account you selected first. Definitely worth a try. Game of the week, i want to call it.

The game “Hue Shift” look much easier, than it really is, because the gameplay is based on color-switching while climbing the stage. A perception, we usually not are that trained in. “Climbing the stage”-games because very popular, at least with the success of of “Doodle Jump” in the iPhone. Now Hue Shift brings in some creative shift into the somehow not very spectacular genre of minigames… (if you want to call it a genre in itself). (via)

coptra
Coptra

Neo-retro is cool without any doubt. And if there are helicopters involved, they are much more cooler. Take the first game Coptra, ready to play in the browser. In this scanline-styled game you have defend your helicopter against tanks, rockets and other, typical retro-like heavy armor. This sounds easy, but is not. Even surviving some seconds can be a challenging experience. You play with mouse and cursor-keys. Awesome! (via)

Party-Boat

Party-Boat is like the title suggest with a little dose of humor in it. It is a 2009-game from messhof, where you play also a helicopter. Once again you have to survive rockets, that are fired from a military boat. The party aspect in this game: try to fly loopings with the heli to activate score multipliers. How cool is that?! The style is a little like 486-vintage PC. The soundtrack is scrammed, but also cool. Yay, let there fly helicopters!

miegakure-4d

Oh, the 4-th dimension. Not really easy to understand – but why not make a game of it? Miegakure does so. It is a puzzle-platformer, where you have to explore the rules of the 4th dimension to solve the stages. Only some screenshots and this gameplay video is available until now, but the game should be available for PC/Mac and consoles later on. It seems, that XKCD already had a play with it.

redScratch

redScratch is an upcoming game from Hungary, that looks quite promising at the first glance. This game will be a “fast 2D action platformer with 9 unique stages“, the author Balázs Sabransky tells at the pixelinvoke-blog. It will somehow focus on essential things: It should no be very long or won’t have an epic story, but it should be a challenging game, with tons of secrets in it. Yummy. If we look at the first demo-video, than we can detects an emphasis on style and gameplay as well. redScratch should be free and availble for PC later this year.

big-tree-defense

Ecological-themed games are still some sort of exotic thing, I wonder why. Lately I came across the iPhone-game Kovoclak, where you have to fight waste in the form of an “businessman”. This game Big Tree Defense is a casual, gameplay is derived from “Desktop Tower Defense”. Your mission is to grow a plant in a wasted environment. To grow you must fight evil insects and support the plant with water. What makes the game remarkable is not only the topic, but also the style of sound and grafic is some decent. Worth a try. The Love-Toolbox

Love – an indie online multiplayer-game, that look absolutely cool! “Love” created something, I am still speechless about. It fits a style, I never seen before anywhere. Feels a little bit like walking through an impressionist-painting, with little dashes of magic runes, Myth and something like Monkey Island. The online-multiplayergame got also something more interesting. Beeing indie, resources are limited. You pay 10 Euros in advance for one month of play – but only a limited number of players is allowed to play the game. The world is constantly changing, though the building abilities from the players. Looks like a very interesting project, we should keep an eye on it. There is a fantastic widescreen introduction video available.

The reasoning about the business model also absolutely makes sense to me. I meanwhile see it like Eskil Steenberg (Quelsolaar) and really hope to see the death of the “low-end ad-market” soon, that makes you drive millions of page impressions on crappy websites – just to get half of you living cost. Quality is not about cent-money. Quality is here to stay.
